Warsaw roads after winter

Wow! That was the longest winter in my life.
And it seems not for me only.
Poland is well known for the worst roads in the world. Simply, our engineers are unable to build proper roads due to great difference of temperatures throughout the year.
In general the temperature goes down to minus 30 every winter. It goes up to +50 Celsius degrees in summer sun.
No need to say that such climate kills the roads.

finally over 0 in Warsaw!!!!

Calendar spring starts on March 21, but people of Warsaw had to wait until last Saturday to feel the temperature over 0 Celsius degrees.
It is really cool to feel 10 Celsius degrees and feel no need to wear a hat :-)
Saturday morning was really great! Instead of driving I decided to walk and stare at the sun and spent over 40 minutes in the street just staring at the sun! Incredible.
The funny part is I was not the only one acting that way. Entire city centre of Warsaw was full of people doing exactly the same. You should have seen it, really.

Another skyscraper in Warsaw

So we have another skyscraper in the centre of Warsaw.
It is called Rondo 1.
I must admit this one seems to be the nicest of the high building in the city.
In fact I have been watching this one for some 3 or 6 months, already.
The Rondo 1 is 194 meters high with its 40 floors. A super cool feature are external lifts that allow great sights of the city.
The building is enormous. It provides as many as over 58,000 square meters of office space for rent. But the building is not only about office space. Every 4 floors there is a large atrium so that busy business people can find out there is some other world outside ;-)

The Rolling Stones visiting Warsaw

June 18, 2006 is the date. A real attraction for a large number of people in Poland.
The Bemowo Airport will definitely be full with 70,000 spectators hoping to see their superstars giving away the best show in their career.
This will be the 3rd Rolling Stones concert in Poland. They visited the country twice earlier: in 1998 they performed in the Chorzow Stadium, and their very first concert was even before the transformation in 1989.

Saturday night in Warsaw

Warsaw is a busy city. Hard to believe but it is really difficult to get a table in a pub / bar without booking earlier or coming early. I mean the "drinking" places here.

If you want to spend your evening cheap in one of the small venues near the Nowy Swiat Street - forget about coming later than 8pm. Simply, all seats are taken. What is worse, waiting a quarter for a free table is not the solution. People won't leave until 11pm when they head towards one of the Warsaw clubs.

Welcome to the Warsaw blog

Hi Everyone,

My name is Michal and I will be your guide to Warsaw.
I have lived here all my life and believe my tips about the city help you discover this great city.

Although completely crushed during the 2nd World War, the city was restored by the entire nation. Today, it features charming Old Town area that has been listed on the UNESCO Heritage list and is really worth a visit.
The city features abundance of museums and a variety of night life venues to attend. I will try to lead you the right places so that you do not miss the right events.
