Rome is not only the capital of Italy, but also the city where most cultural events take place. There is a list of concerts, exhibitions, shows and many others that are held in the city each year. The locals, as well as the visitors and tourists can enjoy many happenings, most of them organized in open air during the summer.

The cultural events in Rome are being held in different squares, cathedrals, music halls, etc. One of the places where many international musical events are organized is the new Rome Auditorium, situated near the Olympic Village in the Flaminio area of the Eternal city. The Auditorium is some kind of City of Music, designed by the world-wide known architect Renzo Piano. Its three large halls can hold a total of 5000 people and the building is set at a park where a splendid amphitheater has been built, together with some recording rooms.

• Festival Romics, held in October
This is the Rome comics and cartoon festival, which includes: cartoon films, exhibitions and meetings with the most famous designers and publishing companies.
• Roma Europa Festival, held in September- October
An annual appointment, being held since 1986, a festival for modern art and theatre, music and dance, with artists coming from all over Europe.
• Sana a Roma, held in April
Those that are keen on the organic food will be very glad to attend this Mediterranean trade fair for natural products. It includes exhibitions of bio-products, degustations and conferences. The fair is being organized for several years up to now at the Rome Trade fair district.
• Estate Romana, held from June to September
This is also something like a festival, including many kinds of events: literary meetings and cinema, music and theater. The happenings are organized in the most characteristic places in the capital of Italy, attracting each year millions of artists from all over the world.
• Roma Jazz Festival, held in October
The first time this festival was organized was in 1876 and since than it is being held annualy to please the jazz music fens. Among the concert participations recognized are national Italian and international artists.
• Donna Sotto le Stelle, organized in July
The annual Roman appointment is meant for the adherents of high fashion. World-wide known fashion designers present their creations and gorgeous models attract people’s attention in the magnificent setting of Piazza di Spagna.
