After 8 years build the station will be finally opened. The new railway station was built on the site of Lehrter station. The project included also the upgrade of five other stations in Berlin area and new north-south connection with 3.5 kilometers tunnel under Tiergarten. Official opening will take place on 26th May. Regular train connection will be run on 28th May. The investment will reduce journey time through Berlin especially from the direction Leipzig and Dresden. The building of the station, which is huge, multi-level construction will take over main international. In the building it will be also travel centre, 80 shops and restaurants, underground car parking facilities for 900 cars and 150 bicycles.
